Kauai 2010-part 1

Before laptop circa 1990 died.

Since the travel day to Kauai was from the "hot place" I figured that it deserved a post all it's own.

1. We woke the kids up (why does it always seem that they sleep in ONLY when you need them to be up?) to leave the house by 7

2. Arrived at the airport to wait for our first flight (yes, first of THREE) we got some breakfast and all got into a fight. yup.

3. Boarded the first plane and Ollie screamed and fought with Violet for almost the whole trip.

4. Got off the first flight in Vegas for our three hour layover. This layover eventually turned into four hours when our flight was delayed by 1 hr. We brought a laptop to play the new toy story 2 dvd we bought to keep the kids happy only to discover that when charged we only have about 1 hr. of battery life in the computer. They didn't even get to watcht the whole movie. Oh how that pissed them off. The only thing that kept Ollie happy was Travis giving them rides around the Vegas airport. I changed Ollie's poopy butt in the middle of the airport because someone was smoking in the women's bathroom (who does that?!) The kids fought and we fought. loudly. Oh well.

*the highlight of the Vegas airport was when we saw flavor flav buying snacks. It was for sure him because not only was he wearing his huge clock around his neck (that is COMMITMENT by the way-wearing THAT while traveling?!) and people were chasing him to take pictures with him. Sweet.

5. Finally get on plane #2. Ollie slept immediately because he was so pooped. I had to wake him up to get on our third plane. That made him happy.

6. We had to run (me while holding my belly) to catch our third plane only for them to tell us we needed to hustle-Ummmmm, wasn't it your bad that your 2nd plane was late?!

7. Made plane #3 as "those" people who made everyone wait. Finally. Now all we have to do is fly for 6 more hours. We finally arrived at Lihue airport at 8 o'clock Hawaii time (four hours behind us making it 12 midnight our time). We were exhausted but so happy to be in Hawaii.

8. We all smiled at eachother after many fights and tears because we realized getting there SUCKS but it is OH SO WORTH IT.
